Anthony Scott continued his training and Peter Brookman from Bordertown Keith G C came, flew and went home as a proud owner of  Pik 20 UMC  - sorry no pics fellas.


To finish of a great week Mother Nature treated us to spectacular "Sound & Light " show which left us powerless for 24 hours

After a short stay of only 5 weeks on this visit , our perennial English member, Harry Potts leaves tomorrow for the UK and back to work as a ship's captain.

As always, Harry's visits are most enjoyable ( especially  his home made pate) and his readiness to get on the mowers and generally "put in" around the place are greatly appreciated.

 Earlier in the week Keith Southcott arrived with his 3 boys, Tim Mark and Joel, with the intention of introducing the boys to aviation.
Keith started gliding at Armidale in the 70's when "Joy Flights" were $2.00 a flight and now flys A320's for Jetstar.
After his check flights Keith was solo again  and  thinks he may have re-caught the bug of flying for fun and could be back at LKSC sooner rather than later !

This week did not look promising  ( a continuation of last weeks foul weather ) but Garry Speight and his guest, Tadashi Yoshida, enjoyed 4 days flying in IKX

It was fortunate that our Chief Photographer,  Geraldine  Clark , was in town as a window of opportunity presented itself on Monday for Geraldine to get some great shots of the lake from GFP including water going over the Dam wall

Today ( Friday ) has been the wettest I have seen here during my time here at LKSC with a 50mm rainfall between 0700 and 1200 but the forecast looks good for next when we welcome the Southcott family.

After having re-scheduled  the State Comps due to the forecast inclement weather, we were at a bit of a loss as to what to do. After a general clean up it was decided to officially open the new access road to the Southern launch point.

NSW State Gliding Comps

Wed - after a no-fly day yesterday, the organising committee met and with due consideration to impending weather, it was reluctantly decided to reschedule the contest until the first quarter of 2011.  The decision was readily accepted by the pilots.  At this time, gliders are being de-rigged and heading off.  It is still raining, with the same conditions predicted for the next 4 or 5 days.


Thanks to all who participated in the organisation of this contest and in particular, Dave Shorter who shouldered the organisational burden.
