28th July and its all still happening

Hi All. Hopefully everyone has recovered from Christmas now. It seems I have a bit to learn about formatting things in these blogs. Sorry for the poorly presented awards info last week. I hope it was still readable. Notable achievements last week were David Holmes converted to the LS7 as did Lynn Anderson who also completed his 'C' certificate and a 3hr 40min flight. Not bad for winter. Ian and Jenny will be holding the fort while I am in the UK. We look forward to seeing a lot of you at maintenance week. Happy flying. Val

What an excellent weekend we have just had. A well presented, well attended Safety Seminar during the day. Good progress made on the simulator room during the breaks.

This was followed by an excellent Christmas Meal. Roast turkey, honey roast ham and all the trimmings beautifully cooked by Joy and her team

15th July...Winter Draws On!

Good morning all. Its getting a little chilly in paradise but it's all still happening here. GOOD NEWS... the LS7 and Discus have returned from maintenance, meaning we now have five of our six single seaters online. Need a type conversion? Now's your chance. We've been flying all week. Our two Danish visitors have caught the Keepit 'addiction' and have extended their stay. Our newest tuggie, David Braithwaite, has completed his training as is now to be seen applying TLC to MPH

Don't forget its Chrismas on th19th July. Yes its winter....that's when Christmas should be! (If you're a Pom that is). As well as Christmas and awards night, its also the amazing Safety Seminar, allegedly a very interesting presentation.  Happy flying. Val

26th June already!

Morning all. Still bright and sunny here, just a bit chilly in the mornings. Things show little sign of slowing down. We had a good few visitors flew in for the shortest day. This event was organised by Iain Pine.

Here a just a few of our visitors. It was a beautiful weekend but no one claimed the bottle of wine! We'll have to save it for next year. Our students and new members are going well. Peter Robinson and Craig Flemming are the current victims, we are making the most of these wonderful days. Peter even blagged a ride in Ian Barracloughs ASH25 the other day. There's lots of work planned for the simulator room this weekend and Bob Dircks is going to present a DI training and testing session on Sunday after briefing. Come and join the fun. Val

Morning All from a bright and chilly Keepit. Somebody said winter was a quiet time but things are continuing apace here. Pictured above is Lynn Anderson, last weeks student after his first solo in the PW5. He couldn't stop smiling! The weather continues to be kind, if a little chilly at night, we have students booked for the next 3 weeks at least. This coming weekend is the shortest day therefore we have set a 300k challenge. Allegedly Jason Kath achieved one last year....who can beat him round this year!! Bottle of wine courtesy of the manager for the greatest distance flown! See you all soon. Val. 

Winter wonderland

Hello one and all. Well it's all happening here at Keepit, someone told me the winters would be quiet!! Not so, we are having a great time. I'll work out how to put pictures on here soon but for now those of you who do Facebook may be interested to know that I have created a Facebook page, inventively known as Lake Keepit Soaring Club. Please have a look and give it a 'like' (if you do!). Please note there are a couple of pages entitled Lake Keepit, one is the State Park, one is random. Please check you have the right one. I am hoping to add pics and snippets of info on the Facebook site fairly regularly.
We have had some great weather here lately, congrats to David Braithwaite for going solo and completing his A and B. The PW5 is here, has had it's altimeter changed. Should be flying shortly. Look forward to seeing you all this weekend. It is the Queens birthday after all!

Greetings from the new Pom

Hello one and all
After a marathon wait for my visa I eventually made it here an now one month has passed already, I've met a good few of you, with many more to go.
So what have we been up to for the last month?
Paul Stickler, a fellow Lasham pom, who I was supposed to train here was sent solo by Ian the day after I arrived. One happy customer. My first student was Greg Hammond, who I had flown with in Benalla. A nice easy start, Greg re soloed and went on to complete his 'C' certificate. Daniel Dubreuil and Simon Bleuler also completed their 'C's. Daz, the american, made great progress, Ian sent him solo and he progressed a good way towards his 'C' before he headed home. Phil Goninon converted to the junior after 15 years. Nick Edwards converted to the junior (he would have had to start flying at age 1 if it had taken him 15years!!), father Greg went solo as did Ryan Orsmond. Junior member Emma Kennedy was sent solo by Mathew Minter. We have flown numerous visitors and club members. The Keepit 'team' did well at the Easter comp in Goondiwindi. Well done all.
Its been a good first month, busy but fun. Long may it continue, and what's more amazing is that I may have mastered the blog! (well mastered may be a bit optimistic!) Look forward to meeting you all soon. Val
